There I was –

I was opening up a cold and frosty oat soda after a pretty bad day at work, you know the kind. The kind of day where on the drive home you are just sorta in a daze, eyes glazed over, mind blown. Yeah one of those days. Anyway, while I enjoyed my refreshing beverage I was looking over a men’s magazine.

I happened across an article about healthy living which stated that I should be eating a balanced diet and getting plenty of exercise, possibly even looking at the health benefits of Pilates or Yoga. This article guaranteed if I followed its advice I would sustain a happy and healthy existence.

Pondering this advice I continued to sip on my tasty drink….I thought about my own life and figured this out. According to the article I had a couple of years left. I don’t drink alcohol for its health benefits, I enjoy smoking a cigar occasionally, I ride motorcycles and exercise on a when I feel like it system (recommended by doctors everywhere!)

Then I had an epiphany, this magazine has no idea what it is talking about. I recommend they look into the benefits of enjoying life instead of trying to live by some ridiculous guidelines that were invented by an individual also working hard trying to get their work published in a popular magazine.

I threw the magazine away, went outside to the patio, sat in my favorite chair, kicked back with my brew, lit up a stogie and watched the sun set. This is stress free healthy living; then my wife came home - SD
